June Bloom Opera in the Gardens: The Fairy Queen and Dido and Aeneas
Eboracum Baroque return with more exquisite opera by Henry Purcell in the delightful setting of the Old Rectory Restaurant Garden at Wimpole.In this semi-staged performance, hear some of the UK's top young professional singers accompanied by an orchestra performing on period instruments. The first half will feature a reduced version of The Fairy Queen, Purcell's take on Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Nights Dream'. In the second half Dido and Aeneas recounts the story of Dido, Queen of Carthage,and her tragic love for the Trojan Warrior, Aeneas. Includes sorcery, defiance of the gods, passion and heartbreak.
